Still in the Dark
Remember that perennial Mesopotamian enterprise of ours? The one that, if John McCain had his way, will end in 12,008 C.E.? Yes, that hojillion-year war. Well, as it turns out, our surge didn't bring democracy and puppies and rainbows to the Iraqis after all. Worse, even the heretofore much-trumpeted security gains are apparently delicate and reversible. Meanwhile, the Iraqi army can't seem to quite stand on its own, let alone fight Sadr & Co., and the presence of American boots on the ground increases local resentment by the day.
Fiddlesticks!
Fortunately, Our Fearless Leader remains safely above such depressing things as "facts" and "reality."
UNRELATED UPDATE:
On the Hyde Park Front, Fifth Ward Alderman--and renowned dirty dancer--Leslie Hairston has decided to leave the 171 stop alone. Rumor has it that she'll actually perform the "parking dance." What's next? A Youtube-fueled global dance movement? The mind salivates at the possibilities.
