Personally, I like the second one better (Paul Conrad reference, anyone?), though there's really no distinction content-wise. Regardless, I suppose that the Putin-Medvedev maneuver comes as no great surprise--one could only imagine what praise Our Fearless Leader wishes he could lavish on such a brilliant exercise of quid pro quo.
